Courage to Love

“Down through the centuries in times of trouble and trial God has brought courage to the hearts of those who love Him. The Bible is filled with assurances of God’s help and comfort in every kind of trouble which might cause fears to arise in the human heart. You can look ahead with promise, hope, and joy.”

Billy Graham

Questions:

1. Why does it take courage to love?

2. Are you looking ahead with promise, hope, and joy?

3. How has God helped comfort you during a storm?

  1. Brianna,
Thank you too for your encouragment. It’s like I said, I don’t know how to love because I don’t think I’ve ever really felt it. That I know is a snare of satan’s. When I recieve this type of reassurance, I know I’m on the right track when it comes from God’s children.

  2. Lawrence,
I also commend you on having the courage to love someone you did not care for. I have had struggles with this in the workplace and at school. In particular I had a supervisor who treated me badly in many ways yet through Him I was able to show love for her. When everyone was telling me to tell her off or try to get her fired I found myself unable to “hate” her. This is because God’s message kept ringing in my head, to love thy neighbor as yourself.

  3. Lawrence,
You got it! What a wonderful demonstration of love. I too, believe that God places people in our lives for a reason. I commend you on having to courage to love someone who you did not particularly care for.

    God bless you!
    Michelle

  4. It’s so amazing how God works. I got the opportunity to show love for someone I didn’t even particularly care for. Over the past few someone I know has had alot of of serious problems and, just needed someone to be there. It’s not that I recieved any grand reward, but the feeling of contentment I recieved from being able to “help out.” It helped me to grasp the concept of love that much more.

The (not so) funny part is I was helping this resolve issues I’ve been through, although they don’t know I’ve been through it already. I think God put this person/s in front of me for a reason. Thank you for your prayers that may be what did it. Please continue to pray for me in that area.

  5. Lawrence,
I will keep you in my prayers and I admire your courage to learn to love those around you. I am very sorry for what happened to you in your past. Please keep us posted in terms of what God says to you during your transformation.

    God bless,
    Michelle

  6. Love is something I’ve always struggled with; not for God, but my fellow man. It’s because of the way I grew up. I know that I can’t truly have love for my God without loving my fellow man as He does but, I do pray everyday. Feel free to pray with/for me too. It’s only because of alot physical abuse I endured. I know it’s not right to feel that way. I hope to change my views.
