Living by God’s Time

“When ours are interrupted, his are not. His plans are proceeding exactly as scheduled, moving us always (including those minutes or hours or years which seem most useless or wasted or unendurable) “toward the goal of true maturity” (Rom 12:2 JBP).”

Elisabeth Elliot

Questions:

1. How would you define true maturity?

2. How is God’s timing different from ours?

3. What steps do we need to take in order to live by God’s time and not ours?

  1. True maturity is a bit difficult to define.

God’s timing is different because His timing is always perfect. Our flesh compels us to want immediate gratification but God is patient. If left to ourselves, we would rush headlong into whatever situation without counting the cost. Even if we’re certain that we’re in God’s will, we still must wait for Him to tell us when to move into His will.

We must prayerfully consider each step we take and move only when we are at peace. If there is doubt or confusion, God is not giving the green light.

I’d like to also add that I love your blog. Mine has been dormant for quite some time because I always feel that I need to “go over the top”. I enjoy your simple, heartfelt posts.

    God’s love to you,
    Cindy

  2. Hello Michelle!
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog. You have some really great quotes up here! I love this one. It is so true. I just had a couple of days that seemed totally pointless and it is easy to get depressed. But it never fails that somewhere down the line God sends a burst of light and you realize He was working all along even if you couldn’t see it. Hang in there and keep holding on to Him. 🙂 Blessings,

    Eden
